The Course

The program combines technical mastery and creative research across two distinct locations in Florence:

Bag Design & Collection Development at SCHOLA:

Classes focus on design research, pattern logic, collection strategy, and material experimentation. Here, you define your personal aesthetic identity within a collaborative community of makers.

Bag Making & Construction at Scuola del Cuoio:

Hands-on workshop training taking place inside the historic laboratory at Santa Croce. Students master the physical creation of handbags: from leather selection and hand cutting to skiving, edge painting, hand and machine stitching, and hardware fitting. Working alongside master artisans, you learn traditional assembly methods and structural logic to build fully articulated leather prototypes.

The Partner

Founded after World War II inside the Monastery of Santa Croce, Scuola del Cuoio is an international reference for Florentine leather tradition. Born from a collaboration between Franciscan friars and master leather artisans, it continues to preserve and pass on authentic craftsmanship. As an educational partner, Scuola del Cuoio brings its heritage and production culture directly into the program, allowing students to learn within a working historic atelier.

Final Collection

The final phase of the course is dedicated to bringing your personal vision to life. You will design, prototype, and construct a personal handbag collection, translating technical mastery and material research into a coherent aesthetic project. This final synthesis provides a clear bridge toward launching an independent brand, entering artisanal production, or developing a conscious path in accessory design.
